11 Reasons Why I STILL Love the Canon 5D Mark 4

The Canon 5D Mark IV is a favourite among many professional photographers due to its high-quality build and features. Here are the top things that I love about this camera:

  1. The feel in the hand is perfect. The camera has a solid, sturdy feel to it that inspires confidence in its durability and reliability.
  2. The positioning of the buttons means I can keep the camera to my eye and change settings as I shoot. This is a critical feature for photographers who need to make quick adjustments without taking their eye off the viewfinder.
  3. The viewfinder has lots of info in it and is clear and configurable. This is another important feature that allows you to see critical shooting information without taking your eye off the viewfinder.
  4. You can customize most buttons to your own needs. This feature lets you set up the camera to work the way you want it to, making it easier and more efficient to use.
  5. The touch screen makes focusing and shooting on tripods simple. This is a handy feature that lets you adjust focus and settings with a simple touch, especially when the camera is mounted on a tripod. You can tap the screen where you want to focus and it focuses, and takes the shot for you! Genius.
  6. The WiFi means I can send photos to the laptop without long, dangerous USB cables. This is a convenient feature that allows you to transfer photos wirelessly, making it easier and safer to work in a variety of shooting environments.
  7. The sensor never (ok, rarely) needs cleaning. This is a major time-saver for photographers who don’t want to spend time cleaning their camera’s sensor.
  8. It uses the same batteries as my 5D Mark II and 5D Mark III. This is a nice feature that allows you to use the same batteries across multiple camera bodies.
  9. The RAW files it creates are great to work with, including lots of shadows and highlight recovery. This is fantastic for professional event photographers who want to get the most out of their images during post-processing. Events have unpredictable lighting, sometimes you need to be able to rescue the occasional dark or bright shot, and the Mark 4 lets you do it.
  10. 30 megapixels is about as much as I’ll ever need. This is a nice feature that provides plenty of resolution for most shooting situations.
  11. It does video (though the 4K is a bit of a bloated format). This is a great bonus for photographers who also want to shoot HD video and not blow cash on a second camera.

Overall, the Canon 5D Mark IV is an absolute joy to use and is a great value for the price. If you’re in the market for a high-quality DSLR camera, I highly recommend the Canon 5D Mark IV.
