{"id":10011,"date":"2018-01-03T17:04:40","date_gmt":"2018-01-03T17:04:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/?p=10011"},"modified":"2023-11-20T10:56:20","modified_gmt":"2023-11-20T10:56:20","slug":"on1-raw-2018-best-solution-cost-conscious-photographers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/on1-raw-2018-best-solution-cost-conscious-photographers","title":{"rendered":"Is ON1 RAW 2018 the Best Solution For Cost-Conscious Photographers?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Fed up with\u00a0paying \u00a310\/month for Lightroom?<\/h1>\n<p>Don&#8217;t get me wrong, I really like Lightroom &#8211; but I&#8217;m not a huge fan of paying a tenner each month to use it&#8230; I used to like buying something and then being able to use it as long as I liked.<\/p>\n<p>The new subscription model Adobe use is fine for businesses, but for many enthusiasts, it&#8217;s prohibitive to expect them to pay year on year for something they may use infrequently.<\/p>\n<h2>What&#8217;s the alternative?<\/h2>\n<p>There are probably many out there &#8211; I used to use Capture One, but after release 7 I found it shaky and unreliable. The results are great, but if you need a fast and efficient workflow, then it was no good.<\/p>\n<p>So having used On1&#8217;s Effects for a while now, I was interested to see their answer to Lightroom &#8211; it&#8217;s called RAW 2018 and is a decent bit of kit.<\/p>\n<p>The software was $99 &#8211; with an Xmas discount, I ended up paying \u00a363 for the software, tutorials, presets and an e-book.
