{"id":10202,"date":"2018-06-03T12:53:56","date_gmt":"2018-06-03T12:53:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/?p=10202"},"modified":"2023-07-02T16:05:36","modified_gmt":"2023-07-02T16:05:36","slug":"hiring-a-photographer-7-things-youre-really-buying-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/hiring-a-photographer-7-things-youre-really-buying-6\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Hiring a Photographer : 7 things you&#8217;re REALLY buying (6)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>6 &#8211; Time to edit the images<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10194\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/lightroom-screen-shot-jocob.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"530\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/lightroom-screen-shot-jocob.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/lightroom-screen-shot-jocob-300x159.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/lightroom-screen-shot-jocob-94x50.jpg 94w, https:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/lightroom-screen-shot-jocob-650x345.jpg 650w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is just as important as shoot day, and in many cases, has more influence on the final look of the photos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>The signature of a photographers style is often in the edit.<\/h4>\n<p>The sort of things we do at this stage are:-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Look at every shot and flag the ones which we like &#8211; this takes ages on a big shoot!<\/li>\n<li>Do a &#8220;part edit&#8221; on the shots and send you previews to choose from &#8211; we part-edit them so they look a little more &#8220;stylish&#8221; or &#8220;punchy&#8221; &#8211; the RAW files in the camera are actually pretty flat and boring before they&#8217;re edited!<\/li>\n<li>Blend any HDR or Panoramic shots for you &#8211; this takes a while believe me<\/li>\n<li>Correct the colours &#8211; so they look real, the light in a room can make images look really strange &#8211; we can sort that AFTER the event.<\/li>\n<li>Sharpen the shots &#8211; this is where we sharpen things like eyes, food, bubbles in champagne and other key features to make them stand out<\/li>\n<li>Contrast &#8211; this makes things really &#8220;jump out&#8221; of the screen and grab the attention<\/li>\n<li>Crop &#8211; this is chopping off bits we don&#8217;t <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/why-industry-needs-regular-professional-photos\/\">need in the photos<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Creative effects &#8211; if you like a slight vintage look, or textures adding to a shot, we do that too.<\/li>\n<li>Size the shots for you &#8211; I usually deliver high res, and web-res &#8211; so you get a set for printing, and some smaller ones for websites, so they don&#8217;t kill the speed of the internet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are many more things that can be done, skin retouching (or <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/can-you-photoshop-me\/%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Can you photoshop me?\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"530\">airbrushing<\/a> as most call it) is popular &#8211; removing things from backgrounds (bins and crisp packets on the pavement, &#8220;To let&#8221; signs on buildings, cranes on the skyline&#8230; )<\/p>\n<p>I usually estimate that this all takes the same length of time as the shoot in my quotes, which shocks most people!&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>6 &#8211; Time to edit the images This is just as important as shoot day, and in many cases, has more influence on the final look of the photos.&nbsp; The signature of a photographers style is often in the edit.
