{"id":11810,"date":"2020-07-13T10:19:16","date_gmt":"2020-07-13T10:19:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/?p=11810"},"modified":"2024-09-05T19:56:11","modified_gmt":"2024-09-05T19:56:11","slug":"temple-leeds-the-new-holbeck","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/temple-leeds-the-new-holbeck\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Temple &#8211; Leeds &#8211; The New Holbeck!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>A new name for Holbeck<\/h1>\n<p>Here is a video version, with the words spoken&#8230; or carry on to see the photos and read it for yourself.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"ast-oembed-container \" style=\"height: 100%;\"><iframe title=\"Temple Leeds - The New Holbeck - An Photo and Audio Blog\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hBY_ZpiNr48?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The area south of Leeds station has been rebranded \u201cTemple Leeds\u201d,&nbsp; probably because of \u201cTemple works\u201d, an<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Temple_Works\"> iconic Mill building in the style of an Egyptian temple<\/a>.&nbsp; Previously this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/10-must-see-leeds-areas-for-photographers\/\" title=\"10 &#8220;Must SEE&#8221; Leeds Areas for Photographers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">area was just called Holbeck &#8211; which is a district of Leeds<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&nbsp;I went for a <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/a-sunset-serenade-capturing-sharon-stacey-at-winscar-reservoir\/%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"A Sunset Serenade: Capturing Sharon Stacey at Winscar Reservoir\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"525\">sunset photoshoot<\/a>, to capture the Architecture and also record the masses of new building going on in the Temple Leeds area.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I first knew of Holbeck around the year 2000, when I worked in Marshalls Mill. There was very little to report down there, other than a red light district and an annoying 15-minute walk into the city through quite a scary dark Arches area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This has completely changed now, with a totally new Skyline in the area. The South entrance to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/dehancer-review-transforming-digital-photos-with-authentic-film-emulation\/\" title=\"Dehancer Review: Transforming Digital Photos with Authentic Film Emulation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"52\">train station transformed<\/a> The Fortunes of the dark Arches. General gentrification of the Holbeck area is taking place<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11812\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11812\" style=\"width: 1500px\" class=\"wp-caption the <a href=\"https:\/\/midnightbell.co.uk\/\">midnight Bell<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-crosskeys.com\/\">Crosskeys<\/a> pubs, so the Temple Leeds journey starts here with a view over the day I managed to get great reflections in the \u201cLeeds Liverpool canal\u201d, all these photos are on the south side of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcfade.co.uk\/blog\/transform-your-drone-footage-with-dehancer-a-step-by-step-guide-to-adding-cinematic-film-looks-in-davinci-resolve\/\" title=\"Transform Your Drone Footage with Dehancer: A Step-by-Step Guide to Adding Cinematic Film Looks in DaVinci Resolve\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"131\">train<\/a> station, you can see the bridge over the canal.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On the Far Side of the train viaduct, there is a small, white curved Footbridge from which you can get this classic Temple Leeds view over the city. Both have gone up recently and seem to be pretty busy.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Next to Riverside West both the Leeds Liverpool canal and the River Aire pass under some large Bridges. Maybe do it in pairs because you occasionally do get some \u201cinteresting\u201d characters milling around.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As you can see there is a mix of old Victorian architecture and brand new. You also have train and Canal transport to throw into the mix. A bit of something for everyone<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>When to go&#8230;.<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&nbsp;I would suggest that the light is better in winter because the sun sets in a very
