Have you been a walk this winter and photographed dead plants, twigs or leaves on branches, got home and been uninspired by them – they don’t really jump off the screen?
Well previously in Lightroom, to make these “pop” out of your monitor, you would have to work quite hard to make your subject really stand out. We would be forced to use the brush tool, really carefully, to draw around things and add your own bit of magic to it.
But now we have these new, extra powerful, mask selection tools in Lightroom, this has become a whole lot easier and this tutorial will show you how to use “Select Subject” to make the ordinary look extraordinary.
Of all the things lightroom has updated in the last five years. Select subject is probably the one which will make the biggest difference. The old brush and masking tools used to be difficult to use, so most photographers would export to Photoshop to do any selections instead.
