A bucket list venue for us all

Last night we finally made it to the home of the Beatles and Ken Dodd – Liverpool. The Liverpool Empire Theatre is a huge barn of a building – holding nearly 2400 people on only 2 levels (most of 3 or 4). You can imagine how big each layer is.

One of the joys of gigging such prestigious theatres is that in those quiet moments, I can have a wander around with the camera and capture some of the building.

It’s a massive cave of a place when you look out from the stage. With it being just 2 tiers, I think it’s wider than anything we’ve played before.

Each is 3 photos taken at -2/0/+2EV – using Aperture Priority to get the base exposure. Pretty much exactly how I teach on my workshops.
They’re taken with the 16-35 on the 5D3.
Tweaked initially in LIGHTROOM
Blended in PHOTOMATIX
Tweaked again using NIK VIVEZA – just like what it does to HDRs
And again with NIK Sharpener – to get the details really standing out.
Finally imported back to LIGHTROOM and finished off there.
